Thrilla 3 and cuatro

Not too much to expect when Shep and Trebon show up for race number 3.  An uneventful race landed me in first place for best of the rest….so, 3rd.  I didn’t feel too great, but was able to keep local pro mtber Ben Thompson just far enough away that he wasn’t a threat.  3rd and not lapped (really short laps) was a good result and I was happy.

The 4th race in the series was, well, like a USGP.  Shep, Craig, Decker and Aaron Olson of T-Mobile.  Trebon took the night off, so he could travel to New York before heading to Europe to race cross, but he was there to heckle and tell me how much I sucked.  After a long 2 weeks on the road for Interbike and Salt Lake City shop visits, I rolled back into Bend just hours before the race started.  My expectations were low and I just wanted to score some points to wrap up the series win.  That’s about how it played out.  I felt better than I thought I would with so much driving and very few rides, but I was a little let down.  I had a good battle with Ben and Carson Miller snuck by me at the end.  I wasn’t feeling to aggressive in the lapped traffic and those two capitalized on it.  I think I finished 6th with Tim in 3rd behind Craig and Shep.  That wasn’t enough for Tim to overtake me and I was the proud recipient of…

The trophy, not the cat.  I already owned the cat.  Wade thought it was awesome that I got the win since we chatted about the trophy before the series even started.  Thanks to Web cyclery and Wade at Vulture.  There’s a good write up on the Web site.
