Mass. Pt. 2

Post Sea Otter had me flying back to company headquarters in Mass for the 2007, “Pedro’s Summit.”  I was pretty excited because Timmy, Carl and V drove the van and trailer back to Bend for me.  That meant I got to fly into Redmond, instead of back to Cali to drive the van back to Oregon.  I was thrilled.  I’d already spent enough time that month driving and was looking forward to some time at home!  The summit was alright.  I got to meet the 2 employees that we have in Europe, and that was cool.  Right now we’ve got 2 vans in the U.S and 1 in Germany.  Yokin (probably spelled wrong, but sounds like Yo Kin) is a funny, funny German.  The two Euro guys just make fun of each other the whole time, so it was pretty entertaining.  The summit was 2 days of meetings where we talked about the past year and the next couple of years.  I mostly listened, since I just started and have no background working in the industry.  I learned a lot, but didn’t feel like I was able to contribute too much.  Oh well, there’s always next year (if they keep me around).  Oh, and we got one of our new carbon multi tools given to us!  Not a required tool, but it is sexy…if a multi tool can be sexy.

I was looking forward to riding there, since the weather was bad last time, and because I had a Ti-Carbon Independent Fabrication loaner bike waiting for me…BUT, guess what, the weather was bad again!  Frak!!!  That’s a’ight though, ‘cause we went to an indoor climbing gym instead.  It was great.  I used to climb in college w/Chris a lot, but since I started riding bikes, I’ve been single minded and put other activities on the back burner.  Strange though, because I’m not near fast enough to justify doing that.  That’s a whole ‘nother blog though.  It was fun and I got a few difficult routes completed.  The staffer said I had a strong core, so I guess my off season got something accomplished.  Thanks Bart!
